Mariposa
Mariposa from Mariposa, California has an intermediate hardness between mica schists and shale. It is available in both random flagging and tumbled stone. While slate is generally used for patios, pathways and stone veneer, it can be used indoors as well. This stone is heavy with iron oxides. Colors are charcoal gray to black, with heavy rust staining on the surface and edges of the stone.
